Sprinkler and Portable Extinguishers Inspection

serviced a vehicle fire suppression system on a construction site where the operator reported a warning light indicating a possible system fault. Upon inspection, I found that one of the detection lines had been damaged, likely from heavy equipment movement, which caused a drop in pressure and triggered the alert. I safely depressurized the system, replaced the damaged detection tubing, and recharged the system to the proper levels. I then tested the unit to confirm proper functionality and ensured the control panel was reset. The vehicle’s fire suppression system is now fully operational, and I advised the site supervisor on ways to better protect the lines from future damage.

5 YEAR SPRINKLER MAINTENANCE

During testing, we discovered that one of the smoke detectors on the second floor isn’t sending a signal back to the main panel. Our technician has isolated the issue to a faulty wiring connection and will be repairing it this afternoon. We’ll retest the system once complete to ensure everything is fully operational.

Sprinkler Inspection

I was called for a sprinkler site survey to find the capacity of the dry system for the compressor. I got the capacity and relayed that to the customer. I checked out and let the customer know everything that they had requested.

Upon arrival to this location we inspected the hoods to verify that nothing had changed. We unloaded our plastic (insurance) and tape and got busy building our funnels to divert the water we were going to spray in the duct and on the fans. We steam cleaned the inside of the hood, the duct through the roof and the fan on the roof. We will also scrape if the build up is extreme. After we were done spraying we took the plastic down, wiped all the equipment and the outside of the hood. We added our sticker to the outside of the hoods letting the fire marshal know and anyone that looks that the duct system was cleaned and when it was cleaned. We also mop to remove dirt or grime that we may have left. We then filled out our report and left the site.

Conducted a routine inspection of their fire extinguishers. After checking in with the office manager, I inspected all extinguishers throughout the facility, verifying their placement, accessibility, and condition. During the inspection, I found one ABC fire extinguisher in the breakroom with an expired maintenance tag and another in the storage area with a low-pressure reading on the gauge. To address these issues, I recharged the low-pressure extinguisher and replaced the expired extinguisher with a compliant, fully charged unit from our inventory. After ensuring all extinguishers were properly mounted and visible, I updated the maintenance records and informed the office manager of the completed work, recommending regular monthly checks to monitor extinguisher condition.
